2007 Knights Valley Cabernet SauvignonGold Medal - 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition- Only available online - This is a fabulous wine that has only gotten better with age. 2007 was another great growing season in Sonoma County. The fall season was very mild and the grapes reached maximum maturity in the middle of October. This wine is darkly colored, richly textured, and has a distinct earthy character with just a hint of oak. The mid-palate reveals textured layers of ripe black fruits, raspberry and spices. The finish is balanced and highlighted by soft and generous tannins. This Cab contains 14.9% alcohol and was aged for 20 months with 25% new French Oak. Expect this wine to gracefully age and only get better with time! As of January 2012 there are only 15 cases left. Suggested Retail Price $40 per bottle, or $432 per case. 2009 Sonoma County Sangiovese2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition- SILVER MEDALOur Sangiovese is a great choice for your holiday feasts and celebrations because it pairs with so many food choices. Evolved fruit flavors give this Italian heritage wine the essence of sweet strawberry, black cherry, nutmeg and floral notes, and it has smooth tannins that linger long in the finish. Grapes for this vintage were selected from nearby Alexander Valley and the wine was blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from our vineyard to produce a wine similar in style to our award winning 2006 vintage. Enjoy this wine with your favorite holiday or Italian style dishes as well as on it's own. Our 2006 Sangiovese was aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels and contains 14.3% alcohol. There were 280 cases produced. 2009 Knights Valley Zinfandel2011 Sonoma County Harvest Fair - SILVER MEDAL2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition- SILVER MEDALWe are continuing the tradition of big Zins. The 2009 crop was picked in early october, a little water was added to the help the raisins rehydrate, and the grapes were cold soaked for 4 days. The fermentation temperature was allowed to rise to 88 degrees, and the pump overs wer done to maximize color extraction. The result is a powerful wine with great fruit flavors, and dark rich color. It's aromas are lovely with notes of briar smoke, blackberry, and spice flavors. It all comes to a close with a long layered finish. The wine was aged for 20 months with 25% new French oak and contains 15.4% alcohol. There were 299 cases produced. 2008 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon2011 Sonoma County Harvest Fair - SILVER MEDAL2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition- SILVER MEDALThe 2008 Cabernet compares nicely to the 2007 vintage. It is slightly more fruit forward and opens up nicely and is easy to drink right now, yet there is enough complexity behind this wine for it to age gracefully for years to come. The wine is deeply colored and has smoothly velvety tannins. The acidity is slight higher than 2007 and its flavor profile matches the style of big Cabs that Speeedy Creek has previously produced. There were 200 cases bottled. |
